About the Role

Legal Counsel - Commercial Law

The Opportunity

If you're ready to move from reviewing contracts to shaping the decisions behind them, this is worth a look.

You'll join the central legal function of an internationally operating group, advising operating companies across the business rather than sitting inside a single unit. That means variety, and it means being pulled into decisions early, while there's still a chance to influence the outcome rather than just paper over the risk afterwards.

You'll also have the scope to bring AI tools and legal tech into your day-to-day work, rather than being stuck with processes that haven't moved on in a decade.

The Role

  • Act as the go-to adviser to operating companies on general commercial law
  • Draft, review and negotiate national and international contracts with business partners
  • Get involved in business decisions early, spotting opportunities and risks before they become a problem
  • Instruct and coordinate external lawyers on disputes or unusual contract types
  • Track regulatory developments and work with other central functions to manage risk across the group
  • Use AI tools and legal tech to work more efficiently

The Company

Our client is a large, internationally operating group spanning several industrial and technology-related sectors. Its legal function is centralised, supporting operating companies group-wide, which gives you exposure to a genuinely broad range of legal and commercial questions rather than a single business line.

What You'll Need

  • Both German state law examinations passed (Staatsexamina)
  • Solid experience in general commercial law, gained at a law firm or in an in-house legal department of an internationally operating company
  • Fluent German and English
