Compliance Manager The Opportunity This role offers broad exposure to compliance in a growing, regulated business. You'll take ownership of core control activities, act as a trusted advisor across departments, contribute to major regulatory initiatives, and help shape how technology supports the compliance function going forward. The Role Manage and continuously develop the organisation's internal control and compliance framework, including regular checks across risk, anti-money laundering, and data protection, keeping everything aligned with current requirements. Serve as the main point of contact for other teams on compliance matters, and design and deliver internal training sessions. Lead compliance workstreams connected to wider regulatory change and resilience planning, working in close coordination with technical colleagues. Play a hands-on role in developing compliance tools and AI-supported workflows that reduce manual work, with direct support from engineering. What You'll Need Two to three or more years of relevant compliance experience, ideally in a regulated environment. A completed degree in law (strongly preferred), economics, or a related field. Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks is an advantage. Strong ability to quickly grasp complex issues and turn them into clear, practical recommendations. Confidence reading and working with regulatory material in German; English is the working language, so full German fluency is not required. You'll advise on major bids and large-scale construction projects, with direct input into contract negotiation and risk management during live tenders and execution. The role offers a hybrid model of 2 to 3 days on-site, up to 2 from home, with real scope to shape legal processes as the business grows. The Role Advise independently on complex project contracts across sales, service, and plant construction law, in Germany and internationally. Draft, negotiate, and manage high-value EPC and bid contracts. Support risk review across operational teams. Ensure and help shape compliance with internal policy and relevant law. Represent the business in disputes, including court, arbitration, and regulatory proceedings, domestically and abroad. Instruct and coordinate external counsel across jurisdictions. Collaborate with legal colleagues on international project teams. Keep the team current on legal developments through training. What You'll Need A fully qualified lawyer with strong results in both state examinations. 8 to 10 years' experience in an industrial company or law firm. Strong background in plant construction or EPC work, including contract negotiation and claims management. Part of the brief is keeping the group's risk-bearing capacity aligned with both business targets and regulatory demands, including newer requirements like CSRD, ESG reporting and the EU taxonomy. You'd set up and run a group-wide risk committee, from content and agenda through to following up on actions, and act as the go-to contact for functions including Internal Audit, Compliance, HSEQ, IT and Legal on anything risk-related. External risk reporting for the annual financial statement also sits with you. The Role Working closely with the General Counsel, you will cover a wide range of legal and compliance activity, including: Preparing corporate resolutions and managing compliance obligations for group companies in Germany and internationally. Reviewing confidentiality agreements and contributing to contracts, templates, and policies. Organising and following up notary appointments, director and supervisory board meetings. Owning the contract management system: deadline monitoring, renewals, terminations, and filing. Supporting compliance management and investigations. Coordinating external providers in the insurance space, with scope to develop this area further. Contributing to cross-functional projects, including M&A activity and corporate reorganisations. The role is 3 days per week onsite, with flexibility for the remainder.
