Experience in risk management, outsourcing oversight, or vendor risk is beneficial. Strong analytical and communication skills, able to simplify complex topics. Interest in regulations such as DORA, MaRisk, and EBA guidelines, and ability to apply them in practice. Fluent German and good English skills. Proactive, strategic, and collaborative approach. Legal Counsel Location: Hamburg (Hybrid) Our client is seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to advise on complex commercial, regulatory, and investment-related matters across international renewable energy markets. In this role, you’ll provide legal guidance on project acquisitions, public and regulatory issues, and long-term commercial agreements. Key Responsibilities: Provide independent regulatory and public-law support for the investment team during acquisition and development of renewable energy projects across Europe, including oversight of external due diligence. Partner with investment teams to make balanced legal decisions aligned with commercial and strategic priorities. Offer early-stage guidance on permitting, administrative procedures, grid regulation, auction frameworks, and other energy-regulatory matters. Monitor regulatory developments and advise the business on implications; brief senior management and train internal teams. Draft, review, and negotiate investment and project agreements (e.g., SPAs, JVAs, grid agreements, development contracts). Coordinate between internal departments and external advisors, including national and international law firms and regulatory specialists. Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives and strategic projects shaping regulatory positioning. Support regulatory proceedings, administrative appeals, and post-acquisition compliance matters. Requirements: Completed legal studies and qualification as a lawyer; strong academic background preferred. 5+ years’ experience in renewable energy, public law, regulatory, or contract law - in a law firm or in-house within energy, industrial, or investment sectors. Strong presence, confident communication, and ability to engage with senior stakeholders. Structured, solution-oriented, and highly independent work style. Fluent English and German; additional European languages are a plus. High commitment, ownership mindset, and interest in legal, commercial, and organisational contexts.
