About the Role

Firewall Engineer

The Opportunity

Tired of firefighting on a firewall estate held together with legacy rules nobody dares touch? This role gives you the opposite: a modern, well-governed global firewall landscape, and the mandate to keep improving it.

You'll join the network security team of an internationally operating technology group whose infrastructure underpins security-critical systems for major institutions worldwide. It's a stable, long-established business with a strong market position, now investing further in its global network security capability.

The Role

You'll take ownership of enterprise firewall environments spanning cloud, data centre and branch locations across multiple countries. Day to day, that means:

  • Administering and operating the global firewall landscape
  • Planning and executing rollouts, migrations and lifecycle activities
  • Configuring firewall rules, NAT policies and routing changes
  • Running regular rule set reviews and policy clean-ups
  • Documenting changes and maintaining security documentation
  • Troubleshooting network and security incidents alongside international stakeholders

You'll be trusted to work independently on real infrastructure, not just tickets. Your rule reviews and clean-ups directly shape how secure and how fast the network runs.

The Company

Our client is a well-established, internationally operating organisation with a global footprint and a reputation for stability. The environment is structured but not bureaucratic: you'll work to clear SLAs, with the autonomy to plan and deliver your own projects across a genuinely international footprint.

What You'll Need

  • Proven experience administering enterprise firewall environments, ideally with Palo Alto Networks
  • Strong networking knowledge, including routing protocols, IPv4 and IPv6
  • Solid understanding of IT security principles and network security architecture
  • Fluent English and good German, spoken and written

How to Apply

Information Technology Service Management Specialist

ITSM Architect: Lead a Once-in-a-Generation Transformation at a Major German Business The Opportunity Most ITSM roles ask you to maintain what's already there. This one asks you to replace it. Our client is a large, established business in Germany - the kind of organisation that has operated at scale for decades and is now undertaking a full transformation of its IT service management landscape. Legacy tooling is going. A modern, ITIL-aligned operating model is coming. And they need someone to lead that journey from the front. This is a strategically visible, senior individual contributor role. You'll own the architectural direction of the ITSM process landscape, drive the platform migration, and embed AI and automation where it creates lasting value. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across IT and leave a genuine mark on how services are delivered across the organisation. The Role You'll be at the centre of a complex, enterprise-scale transformation. In practice, that means: Leading the reconceptualisation and redesign of the full ITSM process landscape, transitioning to a modern ITIL-oriented model Driving the operational migration from legacy tooling to a fit-for-purpose, automatable platform Defining and implementing testing and control mechanisms, handover points, and KPI frameworks that track and improve process maturity over time Ensuring stable IT operations through the standardisation and intelligent automation of core processes Providing technical leadership across other process roles in your assigned areas Integrating AI tooling into ITSM workflows as part of the broader digital transformation agenda Managing stakeholders from operational teams to senior leadership The Company Our client is one of Germany's most established large-scale businesses, with a significant workforce and a long track record of operating in a regulated environment. The IT organisation is mid-transformation: there's real appetite at senior level for modernisation, genuine investment behind it, and a mandate to do this properly. For the right person, it's a rare chance to drive meaningful, lasting change inside a business of real substance. The role is based in NRW, with flexible working arrangements. What You'll Need Fluent German and English Degree in business informatics or a comparable discipline At least 5 years in ITSM process architecture or process ownership, not solely in operations A demonstrable track record of designing and implementing enterprise-scale ITSM process landscapes Deep, practical knowledge of ITIL 4, including interface design, handover points, and KPI frameworks Experience migrating organisations off legacy ITSM tooling Strong stakeholder management skills at all levels, from operational workshops to executive conversations Experience working in regulated environments How to Apply If this sounds like the right next step, we'd love to hear from you. Your CV doesn't need to be up to date - send what you have, or just give us a call for an informal conversation.
