About the Role

IP Patent Attorney
Location: Hamburg

Our client is seeking an IP Patent Attorney to join their intellectual property team in Hamburg. The role covers the full patent lifecycle from invention disclosure through to grant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing patent portfolios from invention disclosure to grant.
  • Drafting, filing, and prosecuting international patent applications, including liaison with external law firms.
  • Conducting freedom-to-operate analyses to support innovation projects.
  • Contributing to the development of IP strategies in collaboration with technology and business functions.
  • Evaluating inventions and delivering internal IP training.
  • Supporting license negotiations and drafting IP-related contracts.

Your Profile:

  • Degree in engineering (M.Sc. or Ph.D.), ideally in mechanical engineering, production engineering, or physics.
  • EPA qualification and/or German patent law qualification (DPMA), or several years of experience as a patent professional in private practice.
  • Solid knowledge of European and international patent law.
  • Analytical mindset with structured working methods and strong communication skills.
  • Fluent German and English, written and spoken.
