About the Role
Senior Group Controller
If You Want Your Numbers to Change Decisions, Read On
Most controllers report savings. Very few get to decide which ones are real.
In this role, you will. Functions across the group report improvements. You test those claims, confirm what genuinely reaches the bottom line and tie it back to group figures. Your findings go straight to the CFO and the board, which means your analysis shapes decisions at the top, not just a monthly pack.
You will also build something from scratch: one group-wide method for measuring value creation. Get it right and it becomes the standard everyone works to.
And finance is still working out how it uses AI. You will have a real say in that, rather than inheriting tools someone else chose.
The Role
- Design and roll out a single, consistent method for measuring value creation, so savings can be compared like for like across the group.
- Challenge the savings functions report, validate their real P&L impact and reconcile results to group figures.
- Partner with Procurement on spend and category analysis, giving them the data they need for negotiations and contracts.
- Own the G&A planning cycle, from annual budget to medium-term plan, and push back where departmental targets lack ambition or credibility.
- Track G&A performance against plan and peers, explain what drives costs and identify where savings can be made.
- Brief the CFO and board through concise reports and decision papers, and keep improving the KPIs, data and tools behind them.
The Company
Our client is an international group with a central controlling team that works across a wide range of central functions. Group-wide improvement initiatives are already underway, with procurement and overhead costs as clear priorities. That gives you a defined mandate and visible senior backing from day one, rather than a remit you have to fight for.
What You'll Need
- Three to seven years in group controlling, FP&A or procurement controlling, or on value enhancement or deal-related projects.
- Group-level FP&A experience across planning, forecasting, driver-based models and variance analysis.
- A clear grasp of cost accounting and P&L dynamics, and the ability to show how operational actions move the numbers.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Fluent German and English.
