About the Role

Senior Group Controller

If You Want Your Numbers to Change Decisions, Read On

Most controllers report savings. Very few get to decide which ones are real.

In this role, you will. Functions across the group report improvements. You test those claims, confirm what genuinely reaches the bottom line and tie it back to group figures. Your findings go straight to the CFO and the board, which means your analysis shapes decisions at the top, not just a monthly pack.

You will also build something from scratch: one group-wide method for measuring value creation. Get it right and it becomes the standard everyone works to.

And finance is still working out how it uses AI. You will have a real say in that, rather than inheriting tools someone else chose.

The Role

  • Design and roll out a single, consistent method for measuring value creation, so savings can be compared like for like across the group.
  • Challenge the savings functions report, validate their real P&L impact and reconcile results to group figures.
  • Partner with Procurement on spend and category analysis, giving them the data they need for negotiations and contracts.
  • Own the G&A planning cycle, from annual budget to medium-term plan, and push back where departmental targets lack ambition or credibility.
  • Track G&A performance against plan and peers, explain what drives costs and identify where savings can be made.
  • Brief the CFO and board through concise reports and decision papers, and keep improving the KPIs, data and tools behind them.

The Company

Our client is an international group with a central controlling team that works across a wide range of central functions. Group-wide improvement initiatives are already underway, with procurement and overhead costs as clear priorities. That gives you a defined mandate and visible senior backing from day one, rather than a remit you have to fight for.

What You'll Need

  • Three to seven years in group controlling, FP&A or procurement controlling, or on value enhancement or deal-related projects.
  • Group-level FP&A experience across planning, forecasting, driver-based models and variance analysis.
  • A clear grasp of cost accounting and P&L dynamics, and the ability to show how operational actions move the numbers.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Fluent German and English.

Senior Controller – Group Planning & Profitability

Senior Controller Ready to Build the Group's Planning Model, Not Just Run It? Plenty of senior controllers coordinate a budget. Far fewer get to redesign how a whole group plans. Here, the group-wide budget process is yours from end to end, across every region, business unit and company. More importantly, you get to change how it works. You will establish driver-based planning and rolling forecasts so the business can react to market changes early, rather than explaining them after the fact. You will also introduce tool-supported contribution margin accounting by product, customer and region. That gives management a reliable basis for portfolio and pricing decisions, and puts your work at the centre of them. And this is a genuine chance to lead on AI in finance. You will not just use it in your own analysis. You will identify, pilot and scale the use cases that change how controlling works across the group. The Role Own the group-wide budget process end to end, coordinating across regions, business units and companies. Establish AI-supported, driver-based planning and rolling forecasts. Introduce tool-supported contribution margin accounting for products, customers and regions to support portfolio and pricing decisions. Analyse monthly results as a business partner, identifying deviations, risks and opportunities and recommending clear actions. Lead strategic financial analysis on investments, scenarios and profitability to support management's long-term direction. Keep improving data quality, value flows and the reporting landscape, including BI and KPIs. The Company Our client is an international, technology-driven group operating across several regions and legal entities in a matrix structure. Finance is actively investing in its tools and in AI, which means you will have backing to try new approaches rather than having to argue for every change. What You'll Need At least five years of controlling experience in an international group. Experience managing both the management and legal reporting perspectives, with solid IFRS and HGB knowledge. A track record of implementing group-wide processes without direct authority. Sound knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and Power BI. Hands-on experience using AI in finance or controlling, for example in analysis, automation or driver-based modelling. Fluent English. How to Apply Interested? Senior Controller

Senior Controller  Want Management to Act on Your Numbers, Not Just Read Them? In a lot of controlling roles, the monthly report goes up and the real conversation happens without you. This one is different. As Senior Controller and business partner for your own business unit, you are the first person management turns to when they want to understand the results. You don't just report the variance. You explain what is behind it, flag the risks and opportunities, and recommend what to do next. Your influence goes well beyond month-end. You shape annual planning, rolling forecasts and scenarios, and you support the strategic and investment decisions that set the direction of the unit. Our client is a technology-driven business, so you also have room to modernise how controlling works in your area. You develop the instruments and reporting landscape, and you decide where modern BI tools will make the biggest difference. And if you want to move into leadership, there is scope to take responsibility for a small team. The Role Act as Senior Controller and business partner for your business unit, and the first point of contact for all results-related questions. Analyse, interpret and comment on monthly results, identifying deviations, risks and opportunities and turning them into concrete recommendations for management. Own revenue, cost and profit analysis, including plan versus actual comparisons, variance analysis and ad hoc evaluations. Lead annual planning, build rolling forecasts and develop scenarios that support strategic and investment decisions. Develop the controlling instruments and reporting landscape for your area, using BI tools to improve efficiency, transparency and control quality. What You'll Need Solid experience in controlling, including planning, forecasting and variance analysis. Experience advising management on results and recommending actions. Confident use of ERP systems such as SAP, and business intelligence tools. Very good German and English. How to Apply Interested?
