Backend Engineer The Opportunity Our client is seeking a backend engineer to help build the real-time infrastructure behind an AI-driven conversation intelligence product. The team is small, senior, and focused on a problem most backend engineers rarely encounter: systems where a few hundred milliseconds of delay changes the outcome. You'd be working on the services that stream live audio, coordinate transcription and language models in real time, and generate in-the-moment guidance while a call is still happening - where speed and uptime aren't secondary concerns but the actual product. The Role Architect and maintain the real-time service layer and REST API that power the platform. Coordinate a multi-agent processing pipeline spanning external AI and transcription services, working to strict latency requirements. Design and iterate on the database structure supporting meeting data, transcripts, and generated insights. Take responsibility for system reliability, monitoring, and security across infrastructure hosted entirely within the EU under GDPR. Develop CRM integrations that support pre-call preparation and automatic logging of call outcomes afterward. Node.js, PHP, and relational databases, hosted on cloud infrastructure. What You'll Need Solid backend experience with Node.js and/or PHP/Laravel, and relational databases. Experience with real-time systems, queues, and API design under latency constraints.
