About the Role
Legal Counsel - IT / Data Protection
If you're advising on AI and data law but only ever seeing one piece of the picture, this role puts you at the centre of it.
The Opportunity
Our client is an international group that is actively adopting AI and growing its online sales channels. They need an in-house lawyer to own the legal side of that shift.
Every IT, digital commerce and data protection question across the group comes to you. You'll see projects from the start, shape how new technology is introduced, and build the policies and templates the business will rely on for years.
If you're in private practice, this is a chance to move from advising on decisions to helping make them. If you're already in-house, it's a broader remit with genuine influence.
The Role
- Act as the central legal contact for IT, digital commerce and data protection across all group entities.
- Draft, review and negotiate technology and data processing agreements on cross-border projects.
- Guide the business through the legal side of rolling out AI tools and systems.
- Support the growth of online sales and customer loyalty programmes, including consumer protection questions.
- Build internal policies, guidance and contract templates in your areas.
- Track new legislation and market developments, and explain what they mean for the business.
- Work closely with the internal data protection function.
- Manage external law firms and coordinate their input.
The Company
Our client is an international group operating across several markets, with a consumer-facing business that is investing in its digital channels. AI adoption and online growth are live priorities, so the work you do will have a direct and visible commercial impact.
You'll work alongside an internal data protection team while owning your specialist area, with external counsel there to support you rather than lead.
What You'll Need
- At least four years' experience in IT and/or data protection law, gained in a law firm or the legal team of an international organisation.
- Hands-on experience assessing and rolling out AI applications, including working knowledge of the EU AI Act and how it interacts with the GDPR.
- Fluent German and English, written and spoken.
