About the Role

Legal Counsel Data Protection

The Opportunity

If your privacy role has turned into answering the same questions on repeat, this is a chance to build something instead.

A globally operating group is investing in its in-house privacy function. You'll own the privacy management system, the internal rulebook and a pipeline of data protection projects. That means your work shapes how the whole group handles personal data, not just one department.

You'll join a small specialist team, so your judgement carries real weight and your recommendations get acted on. And because the role spans advisory, governance and project work, you won't be boxed into one lane.

The Role

  • Own and evolve the privacy management system as the business changes
  • Build the internal rulebook, from group-wide policies to practical day-to-day guidance
  • Work with teams across the group to embed privacy into new processes, from first concept to rollout
  • Review data processing from a legal angle, weigh competing interests and recommend approaches that work in practice
  • Act as sparring partner for the privacy coordinators in the business
  • Steer data protection projects alongside the function's leadership
  • Design training and awareness formats, and check that controls deliver results

You'll work regularly with colleagues across departments and countries, so no two weeks look the same.

The Company

Our client is a globally operating group whose privacy function supports both its operating businesses and its corporate departments. The function is being strengthened, which makes this a growth hire rather than a backfill. There's room to influence where it goes next.

The route in is flexible too. A legal background is one way in, but a strong IT foundation is valued just as highly.

What You'll Need

  • Around 3 to 5 years' data protection experience in an international corporate environment
  • A formal data protection qualification
  • A solid understanding of IT systems and how business processes connect
  • Fluent German and English

Legal Counsel Insurance

Legal Counsel Insurance The Opportunity If you're ready to move beyond advisory support and actually shape product, regulatory and commercial decisions, this is worth a closer look. This is a dual-remit position: part general legal advisory, part specialist support for a related business line, giving you exposure most legal counsel roles don't offer. You'll work directly with senior stakeholders across a multi-jurisdictional organisation, with a genuine hand in shaping strategy and structure during an active European expansion. The Role Provide independent legal advice across civil law, litigation and arbitration, contract law, distribution law, supervisory law and consumer protection. Design, develop and review specialty product wordings, including for multinational programmes. Support legal counsel across multiple European jurisdictions, sharing knowledge and developing junior team members. Act as the technical reference point for product teams on regulatory, product and claims queries. Draft and negotiate distribution and agency agreements, contracts, brokerage agreements, NDAs and related commercial documentation. Manage a centralised wordings repository, keeping it aligned with regulatory and legal developments. Deliver legal support across the full agent lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding. Work with colleagues across sanctions, antitrust and data protection specialisms internationally. Deliver training on wordings, coverage and regulatory issues to product teams and business managers. Contribute directly to strategy and structure during an active European expansion. The Company Our client is a specialty insurance business operating across multiple European jurisdictions. The organisation is in the middle of an active European expansion, which means real opportunities to influence how the legal function scales alongside the business, rather than simply keeping pace with it. What You'll Need Qualification as a lawyer (German state examinations or European/UK equivalent). Admission as Syndikusanwalt, Rechtsanwalt or equivalent. At least 4 years' post-qualification experience. Experience in a regulated primary sector or distribution law. Working knowledge of relevant European regulatory frameworks. Contract drafting and negotiation experience. Fluent German and English. How to Apply Your CV doesn't need to be up to date. Energy Legal Counsel

Energy Legal Counsel The Opportunity If you're ready to advise on renewable energy projects from first development through to repowering, without waiting for sign-off on every point, this could be your next move. You'll take ownership of legal matters across the full project lifecycle, working directly on the contracts, M&A activity and corporate structuring behind live wind energy projects. The Role Advise independently on legal matters across development, realisation, operation and repowering of wind energy projects. Draft, review and negotiate contracts, including purchase, usage and loan agreements. Support M&A transactions in renewables: company and project acquisitions, due diligence and transaction documentation. Advise on corporate law matters, including articles of association, shareholder agreements and capital measures. The Company You'll be joining a business operating across the full lifecycle of wind energy projects, from early development through to repowering. The work spans contract law, planning and environmental law, and M&A, giving you exposure to both the commercial and legal side of the energy transition. What You'll Need Fully qualified German lawyer, having completed both state exams (Zweites Staatsexamen). Professional experience as an in-house lawyer or attorney, with a solid grounding in contract and commercial law. How to Apply Your CV doesn't need to be up to date. Senior Legal Counsel

Senior Legal Counsel The Opportunity If your in-house role has narrowed to one specialism, or you're in private practice and tired of advising from the sidelines, this is worth reading. This is a broad, senior mandate at the centre of a financial services group's legal function. Corporate, regulatory, commercial and real estate work all sit with you, across several group entities. You'll work directly with management and the business units. That means you're involved while decisions are being made, not reviewing them afterwards. One week you're closing a property deal, the next you're structuring a cross-border agreement or leading on an antitrust question. The Role Structure and negotiate commercial agreements with external partners and between group companies, many with a cross-border element. Act as the first point of contact for group entities on company law and financial regulation. Run the legal side of real estate transactions, taking each one through to closing. Lead the legal workstream on projects covering brand protection, fair trading and antitrust. Track legal and regulatory change and turn it into clear, practical next steps for management and the business. You won't simply hand over advice and step away. You'll own matters through to the outcome. The Company Our client is an established financial services group operating through multiple entities, supported by a central in-house legal team that sits close to management. The group is strengthening that team, which gives you room to shape how legal works across the business. The breadth of the mandate also builds the kind of all-round experience that the most senior in-house roles demand. What You'll Need Both German state law examinations. Several years' post-qualification experience, in private practice or in-house. Strong expertise in company law and financial services regulation. Experience leading complex negotiations, including with international counterparties. Business-fluent German and English. How to Apply Interested? Get in touch with the MAM Gruppe team for a confidential conversation about this role. Your CV doesn't need to be up to date. Send what you have, or just give us a call.
