About the Role
Data Protection Counsel
The Opportunity
Early in your data protection career and ready to own the whole remit, not just a slice of it?
In this role, you become the go-to privacy adviser for an established international group. You'll report to leadership directly, which means your recommendations reach the people who make decisions and you see your advice shape how the business actually runs.
You'll also be the company's contact for supervisory authorities. That's experience most lawyers at your stage wait years to get. Hybrid working is part of the package.
The Role
You'll take ownership of data protection across the business, working hand in hand with operational teams. Day to day, you'll:
- Run the data protection management system and keep internal policies current and properly applied
- Advise business units on privacy questions, and draft and negotiate the data protection terms of contracts
- Spot privacy risks and agree practical safeguards with the teams involved
- Track regulatory developments and turn them into clear recommendations
- Deliver compliance and privacy training across the workforce
- Report regularly to leadership and act as the point of contact for supervisory authorities
The Company
Our client is an established international group that is investing in its central compliance and privacy function. You'll sit close to the business rather than apart from it, so the job is as much about pragmatic, workable answers as it is about knowing the law.
What You'll Need
- Qualification as a German lawyer
- Early-career experience in data protection, with working knowledge of IT law
- Business fluency in German and English
