About the Role

Head of Controlling

If you've spent years as the analytical backbone of a finance function and you're ready to lead one, this is a role worth a proper look.

The Opportunity

A well-established international manufacturing business is looking for a Head of Controlling to take ownership of its group-wide controlling function. Based in Bavaria, you'll sit close to senior management and play a central role in shaping how the business understands and acts on its financial performance. The scope is broad: group reporting, planning cycles, cross-plant coordination, and the ongoing development of reporting tools and processes. If you want to move beyond execution and into genuine influence over financial strategy, this is that step.

The Role

You'll lead a controlling team and take responsibility for:

  • Budget plans, forecasts, cost comparisons and profitability calculations across the group
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for the group
  • Management reporting and planning processes, including quality and deadline ownership
  • Deviation analyses and support for management in identifying and following up on corrective measures
  • Risk reporting and the creation and assessment of risks within it
  • Cross-plant cost and service planning, including coordination between sites
  • Harmonisation and further development of internal reporting tools, in coordination with group management
  • Decision-support documents and financial analyses for senior stakeholders
  • Involvement in national and international projects with a financial dimension

You'll work closely with management and internal departments, including the central Financial Competence Center.

The Company

A multi-site international manufacturing business with operations across nine countries and around 3,000 employees. The company operates in a sector shaped by long-term structural trends, with a clear focus on innovation and engineering. Flat hierarchies, fast decision-making, and a genuine appetite for improving how things are done.

What You'll Need

  • A degree in economics, finance or accounting, or a comparable qualification
  • Substantial controlling experience gained in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP (including SEM) and BI tools
  • Confident with MS Office and fluent in English
  • Analytical and structured in your approach, with the resilience to operate in a complex, multi-site environment
  • Some experience leading or mentoring a team would be an advantage
