About the Role
Chief Legal Counsel
Location: Berlin or Düsseldorf (Hybrid)
Our client is seeking a Chief Legal Counsel to lead legal matters across a complex international business environment. This role combines strategic legal advisory, leadership responsibility, and close collaboration with commercial and operational stakeholders across multiple business areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise management, sales teams, and business functions on a broad range of commercial legal matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial, service, and project-related agreements.
- Provide pragmatic legal guidance on regulatory, compliance, and risk-related topics.
- Support matters relating to competition law, data protection, trade compliance, and corporate governance.
- Lead and develop a small legal team, ensuring effective prioritisation and collaboration.
- Manage disputes, litigation, and external legal counsel where required.
- Assess legal and commercial risks and provide practical recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with international legal and business teams across the organisation.
Your Profile:
- Fully qualified lawyer with strong academic credentials.
- Extensive experience in commercial law within an international company or law firm environment.
- Strong expertise in contract and commercial law; additional regulatory knowledge is advantageous.
- Commercially minded with a pragmatic and solution-oriented advisory style.
- Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Fluent German and English skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
