The Challenge
Commerzbank is the leading bank for the German Mittelstand and a strong partner to around 25,500 corporate client groups and almost 11 million private and small-business customers across Germany.
When Matei Ene, Head of Global Third Party Risk Management, contacted MAM Gruppe, his team faced a challenge familiar to any newly-established function: they needed to build out a brand-new division from a standing start, in a market where top-tier compliance professionals are already in short supply and heavily contested. There was no existing bench of candidates to draw on internally, and no room for a slow, exploratory search. The division needed people in seats.
The Solution
MAM Gruppe ran effective initial calls to pin down exactly what each role required, then moved fast, putting forward suitable candidate profiles promptly and demonstrating a clear grasp of what Commerzbank actually needed rather than a generic compliance shortlist.
Because the process ran entirely remotely, consistent communication mattered more than usual. MAM Gruppe kept it tight through weekly Microsoft Teams meetings, so the absence of face-to-face contact never became a barrier to trust or pace. The team handled that remote dynamic deliberately, not as a workaround.
The Outcome
MAM Gruppe filled all three critical positions, Human Rights Lawyer, LkSG Manager, and Compliance Lawyer, in a remarkably short timeframe, with the first role closed in under three weeks. Matei Ene described MAM Gruppe as "Professional, Committed, and Fast," and rated his likelihood of recommending the team 9 out of 10.
Despite running the entire search remotely, MAM Gruppe's proactive approach kept the process smooth from first call to final offer, proof that distance doesn't have to mean friction when the communication rhythm is right.
