About the Role

Tax Manager - International Tax Law

The Opportunity

If your current tax role feels stuck on routine compliance, this one moves in a different direction. You would sit at the interface between group tax and a live international trading business, working on foreign trading entities, Pillar 2, CbCR and transfer pricing questions that most in-house tax teams never get near.

You would own a portfolio of foreign trading companies directly, managing their external advisors and acting as the first point of contact when tax questions come up. It is advisory work with real ownership, not sign-off from the sidelines.

The Role

You would provide tax advice and support to foreign trading companies within an international trading business unit, covering income tax, reporting and tax accounting.

Your focus would include:

  • Coordinating and managing external advisors for a portfolio of foreign trading entities
  • Acting as the main contact for tax questions in this area, working closely with accounting, controlling and treasury
  • Supporting compliance, transfer pricing, CbCR and Pillar 2 topics
  • Assessing the tax implications of contracts, product launches and projects within the trading business
  • Preparing analysis, documentation and decision papers on tax matters

Over time, you would take on a bigger role shaping tax input on new trading products and projects, rather than reviewing them after the fact.

The Company

Our client is a large, well-established energy and infrastructure business with an international trading operation. It offers genuine flexibility: home office, part-time options and workation arrangements of up to 30 consecutive days abroad, alongside a company pension scheme, holiday and Christmas bonuses, and profit sharing.

What You'll Need

  • A degree in business administration with a tax focus, or a comparable qualification such as a dual degree
  • Several years of professional experience in tax consulting, audit or a corporate tax department, including exposure to an international environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain tax topics clearly to people without a tax background
  • A solid grasp of accounting, financial reporting and controlling requirements
  • Fluency in German and English

Global Tax Risk Manager

Global Tax Risk Manager If you've spent years doing international tax work and want a role where the remit is genuinely global and the audience includes senior leadership, this is worth a look. The Opportunity You'll own the global tax risk management framework: building it out, keeping it current, and making sure it holds up across jurisdictions. That means working closely with local teams worldwide, leading tax reviews, and being the central point of contact for senior management on tax risk matters. It's a high-visibility role that sits across the international tax and compliance functions, with real influence over how risk is identified, reported, and mitigated at group level. The Role Implement and enhance the global tax risk management framework Identify, assess, and monitor tax risks globally in partnership with local teams Lead tax reviews globally and ensure consistent standards across jurisdictions Develop and implement internal tax risk controls and mitigation strategies Monitor global tax legislation changes and assess their impact on the group's risk position Support local teams with documentation for internal and external audits Coordinate global tax risk reporting across the international tax and compliance functions Represent the tax team in cross-functional, group-wide projects Present at internal workshops and to senior management stakeholders Manage the annual certificate of residence process and contribute to strategic tax planning The Company A large, internationally active group with operations across multiple markets. The central tax function works closely with local teams worldwide and has direct visibility with group senior management. Tax Compliance Manager

Tax Compliance Manager Tax compliance roles often sit at one end of a spectrum. Either you're deep in filings with little strategic input, or you're advising from a distance without the tools or authority to fix what you find. If you're looking for something in between, this might be it. The Opportunity This is a compliance role with real breadth. You'll be responsible for the Tax Compliance Management System, which means identifying weaknesses, designing corrective measures, and following them through to completion. It's not a function that signs off on other people's work. You'll be doing the thinking and driving the change. There's also an unusual element: the role involves active involvement in tax clauses within separation agreements, including coordination and independent resolution of queries. That requires someone equally comfortable with legal documents and commercial context, not just tax returns. The business is also interested in how automation and AI can improve tax processes, so if you've been wanting to put those interests to practical use in a large-organisation setting, there's scope to do that here. The Role Develop and maintain the organisation's tax compliance strategy in line with German and international requirements Run regular risk reports and present findings to management Identify weaknesses in the Tax CMS and Tax Risk Management framework, and own the design and implementation of corrective measures Coordinate with internal reporting units and external tax authorities Advise on tax clauses in separation agreements, including related documentation and query resolution Design and deliver internal training on tax compliance topics The Company A large, internationally active business based in Hannover, with a tax function that operates across multiple jurisdictions and plays an active role in the organisation's risk and governance framework. What You'll Need A German tax adviser qualification (Steuerberater) Experience in tax compliance management systems (Tax CMS), ideally in an in-house environment Comfort working with legal documentation alongside tax matters Fluent German and English, written and spoken How to Apply Get in touch with the MAM Gruppe team. Senior Manager International Tax

Senior Manager International Tax Most in-house international tax roles put you in a box. One region. One team. A narrow remit that stops you getting close to the business. If you've hit that ceiling and you're ready for something broader, this is worth reading. The Opportunity This is a senior tax role with genuine international scope. You'll be the expert for a portfolio of countries, working directly with local colleagues and external advisers, taking real ownership of tax positions rather than reviewing work that others have done. The work spans the full range: advisory on M&A and restructuring projects, monitoring of tax reporting, health checks at subsidiary level, and keeping a close eye on evolving international frameworks including BEPS and OECD developments. You'll sit close to transactions and have a voice in structuring decisions, not just compliance oversight. It's a role for someone who wants to think strategically as well as technically, and who's comfortable moving between jurisdictions, stakeholders, and workstreams without a lot of hand-holding. The Role Own the tax position for an international portfolio of group companies, including regular engagement with local finance teams and external advisers Monitor local tax law developments and assess the impact on the group Support and coordinate foreign tax audits, acting as the main contact for tax authorities and consultants Review tax reporting with a focus on effective tax rate consistency and tax cash flow Conduct Tax Health Checks, including on-site visits to group companies Advise on M&A transactions, internal restructurings, mergers, and liquidations, with a focus on tax-efficient structuring and post-acquisition integration Support due diligence processes for acquisitions The Company A large, internationally active business with operations across multiple countries and markets. The tax function plays a meaningful role in the business, with exposure to complex cross-border activity and a genuine seat at the table on transactions and restructuring decisions. What You'll Need A German tax adviser qualification (Steuerberater) or comparable international equivalent At least three to five years' experience in international tax, either in-house or in a consulting firm Strong working knowledge of double taxation agreements, OECD guidelines, BEPS, withholding taxes, and international tax structures Fluent English and German How to Apply Get in touch with the MAM Gruppe team.
