About the Role

Head of Tax Accounting

The Opportunity

If you're already the person everyone calls when deferred tax gets complicated, here's a chance to own the whole agenda.

This is a Head of Tax Accounting role with real scope. You won't inherit a finished function and keep it ticking over. You'll decide how tax accounting develops across an international group: the governance, the controls, the processes and the systems behind them.

Your judgement will shape how the Group reports its tax position, not just whether this quarter's numbers are right. You'll have an international team to build, a direct line to the executive team and a seat at the table on M&A, joint ventures and restructurings.

If your current role has become more about maintaining than building, this is worth a closer look.

The Role

  • Lead and develop an international team of tax accounting specialists.
  • Own the Group's current and deferred tax position across the consolidated and entity accounts, delivered to every monthly and annual close.
  • Advise the executive team on complex domestic and international tax matters.
  • Assess the accounting and tax impact of M&A, joint ventures, restructurings and integrations alongside the business.
  • Build a robust tax control environment covering global tax risk, Group-wide policies and supporting processes.
  • Choose and implement the tax technology that makes reporting faster and more reliable.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, external advisers and tax authorities, and work closely with Group Accounting on tax balance sheet issues.

The Company

Our client is an international industrial group. Tax accounting sits right where tax and finance meet, which means your work feeds directly into the consolidated accounts and into conversations at executive level.

The mandate goes beyond reporting. The Group wants someone to modernise how tax accounting works, so you'll have the backing to change processes and introduce new tools rather than fighting for permission.

What You'll Need

  • Senior leadership experience in tax accounting, group tax or international financial reporting.
  • A tax adviser qualification.
  • Deep technical knowledge of IFRS, particularly IAS 12.
  • Experience with international tax structures and transfer pricing.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP and consolidation platforms.
  • Business fluency in German and English.

Senior Manager - Tax Reporting & Compliance

Senior Manager - Tax Reporting & Compliance The Opportunity If you want real ownership of a technical tax area without stepping into a director-level remit, this is worth reading. Deferred taxes are the central focus of this role, and they're yours: the calculation, the review and the documentation. You'll be the person the business relies on to get those numbers right, with the authority to shape how it's done. You'll report directly to the Head of Tax Reporting and Compliance. That means short decision lines, a direct line to the person setting the function's direction, and a genuine say in how processes develop. The work also gives you breadth. Alongside deferred taxes, you'll lead on national compliance and contribute to international reporting, so your experience keeps growing while your focus stays sharp. And because the team actively uses and develops its tax technology, you'll have room to improve how the work gets done rather than inherit a fixed way of working. The Role Own the calculation, review and documentation of deferred taxes Prepare and review tax figures for financial reporting, including contributions to international reporting processes Manage national tax compliance, making sure filings are accurate, complete and on time Use and further develop the team's tax technology tools to improve efficiency and data quality Work closely with the Head of Tax Reporting and Compliance on technical questions and process development Act as a key contact for finance, accounting and external advisers on reporting and compliance matters This is a hands-on senior role. You'll stay close to the technical detail, which suits someone who enjoys being the expert in the room as much as improving the process around them. What You'll Need Substantial experience in tax reporting and tax compliance, gained in industry or professional services Strong technical knowledge of deferred taxes and their treatment in financial statements Confidence working with tax technology tools and data-driven reporting processes Fluent German and strong English How to Apply Not actively looking? That's fine. Get in touch with the MAM Gruppe team for a confidential conversation about this role. Your CV doesn't need to be up to date. Send what you have, or just give us a call.

In this role, you'd be it: the single point of contact for product tax across the business, shaping how the organisation responds to legislative change rather than scrambling to react once it's already landed.
